چکیده

Surprisingly complex tasks can be solved using a behaviour-based, reactive control system, i.e., a system that operates without an explicit internal representation of the environment and the own body. Nevertheless, application of internal representations has gained interest in recent years because such internal representations can be used to solve problems of perception and motor control (sensor fusion, inverse modeling) and may in addition be applied to higher cognitive functions as are the ability to plan ahead. To endow such a system with the ability to find new behavioural solutions to a given problem in a broad range of possibilities, the internal representation must be universally manipulable, i.e. the model should be able to simulate all movements that are physically possible for the body given. Using recurrent neural networks, models showing this faculty have been proposed being based on the principle of mean of multiple computation (MMC). The extension of this approach to three dimensions requires the introduction of a joint angle representation which allows for computation of mean values. Here we use dual quaternions that are singularity-free and unambiguous which allow for shortest path interpolation. In addition, it has been shown that dual quaternions are the most efficient and most compact form for representing rigid transformations. The model can easily be adapted to bodies of Electronic supplementary material The online version of this article (doi:10.1007/s10514-011-9226-3) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users. Stability investigation of hydraulic interconnected suspension system of a vehicle with a quaternion neural network controller

Using hydraulic interconnected suspension (HIS) system to improve the stability of the vehicles is a matter of recent interest of many scholars. In this paper, application of this kind of suspension system and its impact on the stability of the vehicle are studied. The governing dynamic relations of the system are presented, using free body diagram, Newton-Euler motion equations, and relations ...

Dual Quaternion Variational Integrator for Rigid Body Dynamic Simulation

We introduce a symplectic dual quaternion variational integrator(DQVI) for simulating single rigid body motion in all six degrees of freedom. Dual quaternion is used to represent rigid body kinematics and one-step Lie group variational integrator is used to conserve the geometric structure, energy and momentum of the system during the simulation. The combination of these two becomes the first L...

Numerical Comparison of Pavement Distress Due to Moving Load under Dual-wheel Tandem and Tridem Axles

Finite element method in pavement analysis is a type of mechanistic analysis that has widely been used by road and transportation engineers these days. This method is used with related programs such as ABAQUS/CAE which is one of the powerful software on this task. Modeling in this software has been developed from 2D static models to 3D dynamic models which are closer to reality due to the more ...

A new approach for fabrication of bulk MMCs using Accumulative Channel-die Compression Bonding (ACCB)

A new severe plastic deformation (SPD) based technique entitled Accumulative channel-die compression bonding (ACCB) is proposed for the fabrication of high strength multi-layered Al/Cu composites for the first time. In order to primarily demonstrate the capabilities of ACCB in the fabrication of metal matrix composites (MMCs), AA 1050 and pure Cu strips were processed. The primary Al/Cu sandwic...

Compliant Motion Constraints *

We examine a dual-quaternion formulation for expressing the relative rigid body motion between two objects when incidence constraints are to be observed. The incidences are between points, lines and planes, of the two parts. Both parametric and implicit representations are investigated. Several examples illustrate the techniques .
